I think that people that control their body and their thoughts in an alcoholic state are more intelligent (than the rest). That is just a personal idea and I'm not sure about it but... I believe that there are some factors that determine the alcohol resistance:
1st - ADN
Here we could fine some factors like your body mass, height, weight, etc. It is not the same one drink for a 1,40 m person than for a basket player.
2nd - Alcohol Use
Of course alcoholic people or people that drink more quite often alcoholic drinks are more used to alcohol, so they can resist more than a "normal" person.
3rd - Intelligence (my opinion)
This field is just my opinion, but I think that in the same 1&2 conditions, ADN and Alcohol Use, is when we can differentiate a more intelligent person than another one cause he has a better control of the situation.
